Ferreras Counseling was founded by Maria Ferreras’s view of the need of a clinician who believes that there is always room to heal painful past experiences and improve impaired behavior.

Maria E. Ferreras-Mendez LCMHC
Mental Health Counselor
Maria Ferreras-Mendez is a licensed mental health counselor, LMHC, who started her career working in health services in 1994 in the City of Cambridge. For more than 10 years she continues to work for non-profit organizations to help and support the community.

In 1999, she was awarded the EAS Pinnacle, for providing outstanding service to welfare recipients by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In 2008, she transitioned into the clinical field in combination with her human services career as a family worker and therapeutic mentor at a community behavioral clinic. It was during that time Maria found her passion for psychology and mental health, eventually deciding to go back to school for professional training.

Maria graduated from Lesley University with a BA in Psychology, and later received her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, and Master certificate in Psychological Trauma and Recovery from Harvard Medical School and training in Counseling Abusers from Emerge. Maria is currently working towards her PhD in Clinical Psychology Christian Orientation at Doxa International University.

Maria was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, where she also attended Law school. She has extensive training in psychological trauma and domestic violence, where she feels she is an advocate. Also, she has substantial experience working with adolescents with behavioral and mental health issues. Maria also has experience working with seniors.
